Skincare From The Sea
OSEA was founded three decades ago, but their story began over a century ago. Jenefer Palmer's grandmother Elsa was a great believer in the power of the sea. When she was 44 years old, Elsa had a terrible fall, injuring her leg and leaving her bedridden. One night, a message came to her in a dream: The ocean will heal you. The next morning, she asked her husband to take her to the Long Island Sound and carry her into the water. She returned again the next day. And the next. Elsa swam in the frigid waters every day for weeks, and the dream became a prophecy: Her leg healed.
When Jenefer had a family of her own, she moved to Southern California, never straying far from the ocean. At the time, almost everything in the skincare world seemed to be made with artificial fragrances, dyes and synthetic ingredients, and none of it worked very well. She knew she could do better. Borrowing from her grandmother’s wisdom, she collected seaweed and started mixing her own formulas. That is how OSEA was born.
Today it’s called clean beauty, but in the Osea family, it is what it has always been: a simple idea that the ocean should be part of everyone’s life—and the conviction that it already is.
