Fara Homidi: The story behind the brand.

There’s a real warmth behind Fara Homidi’s beauty — it’s not just products, it’s a life shaped by magazines, family, and a love for making people feel themselves. Fara’s story begins when her family moved to California from Afghanistan in the ’80s and her mother opened a beauty supply salon. As a kid she worked there after school, flipping through magazines such as Vogue, Elle and more, daydreaming about the names on those pages. That salon was her classroom: she studied looks, textures, and the craft of beauty long before she ever imagined a clear path into the industry.

Her career grew in Los Angeles during the digital-photo revolution, when magazine images started to feel over-polished and unattainable. Fara pushed back — her signature is a polished finish that still reads human, hand-applied, and lived-in, not airbrushed. That approach carried her to big moments: a November 2020 British Vogue cover with Serena Williams, Vogue’s May 2023 tribute to Karl Lagerfeld shot by Annie Leibovitz with ten supermodels in Paris, a meaningful Vogue Italia cover with Bella Hadid — all projects that helped define her voice in beauty.

Starting Fara Homidi Beauty was a natural next step. As a working makeup artist she wanted products that made sense on set and in daily life: textures you can smudge with your fingers, formulas that age well throughout the day, and ingredients that meet a “clean” standard without sacrificing performance. In short, she built a system that’s intuitive for both pros and everyday users — long-wear that doesn’t go crusty, blendable pigments that look fresh at every stage, and thoughtfully balanced shades for a range of skin tones.

We’re proud to carry Fara Homidi at Wren & Wild — not as a distant collaboration, but as a thoughtful pairing of product and practice. Our in-house artists are trained in her system and can teach you how to use each item to get that signature finish: skin-first prep, effortless layering, and editorial-ready techniques that still feel wearable.
